Whole 30 Food Staples

Are you thinking about doing Whole 30 this year? If you read my yearly goals, you know that I plan to do it twice this year.  One of the best ways to make sure you can successfully complete your Whole 30 is to make sure you have a plenty of compliant options in your refrigerator and pantry.


Almond or Coconut Flour: Personally, I don’t keep either of these on hand but a lot of people do.
Sugar Free Pasta Sauce: This can be pretty expensive, so I just make my own. Here’s a recipe.
Coconut Aminos: I keep this on hand to make Asian flavored dishes.
Almond Butter: This is great for eating with apples or celery, just make sure it doesn’t have added sugar.
Compliant Bars: RXBAR in Blueberry, Apple Cinnamon. Technically the chocolate ones are compliant but they are bit too much like dessert. Larabars in Apple Pie, Banana Bread, Carrot Cake, Cashew Cookie, Cherry Pie, Lemon Bar, Pecan Pie, Key Lime Pie, and Coconut Cream Pie.
Nuts: Cashews, almonds, pecans but make sure they are not roasted in a non compliant oil.
Tomatoes: Diced, sauce, and paste with no added sugar
Oils: Coconut, ghee, extra virgin olive oil for cooking and making your own dressings.
Vinegar: I don’t use apple cider vinegar but I use balsamic vinegar a lot with my veggies.
Stocks and broth: I actually don’t use them because I’m not a fan of soup but during the cold months you may find yourself wanting to make some soup.
Drinks: La Croix, San Pellegrino Water, Green Tea, Perrier


Sweet Potatoes: These are so versatile but I’d try not to rely on them too much because you could end up eating too much starch.
Cauliflower Rice: Can be bought frozen or fresh at Trader Joe’s but I’ve seen it frozen at Kroger too.
Fresh Veggies:  I buy tons of veggies because they are much cheaper than meat. Get whatever kinds you like. I like green beans, asparagus, mushrooms, broccoli, eggplant, bell peppers,  carrots, tomatoes, and onion.
Fresh fruit: I get tired of eating eggs so sometimes I will eat fruit for breakfast.


Almond Milk: If you need to have milk, make sure it is no sugar added.
Eggs: These are a staple. I buy them two dozen at a time.
Bacon: Compliant bacon is expensive if you can even find it. I just live without it because the price isn’t worth it to me.
Meat: This is pretty self explanatory. I get steak when it is reasonably priced but I eat a ton of chicken because it is the cheapest. I also eat a ton of hamburgers. For a quick dinner, I buy the chicken apple sausage from Costco.
Tessemae’s: I love the balsamic and lemon garlic. I’ve heard the zesty ranch is good but I haven’t tried it. I’ve heard only bad things about the ketchup.
