I’d been using Rhode’s Glazing Milk for years before I ever tried Bubble’s Cosmic Silk Toner. While I loved the Rhode, I couldn’t help but wonder if there was a more affordable option that delivered similar results.
When Bubble launched Cosmic Silk Toner, I started seeing it pop up on Instagram. The milky texture looked familiar, the ingredient list looked surprisingly close, and at about half the price, I had to know if it could replace my Rhode.
After comparing the ingredient lists and using both products, I can confidently say they’re much more alike than they are different. But they’re not identical and depending on your skin, those differences may matter.

First Impressions
The first time I applied Bubble Cosmic Silk Toner, my immediate thought was, this feels a lot like Rhode.
Both have a lightweight milky texture that absorbs quickly without feeling greasy or sticky. They leave skin looking hydrated and healthy, making either one a great first step after cleansing before applying serums and moisturizer.
Honestly, if you only judged these products by their texture and finish, you’d probably think they were nearly the same product.
Ingredient Overlap
That first impression isn’t surprising once you look at the formulas.
The two products share 33 identical ingredients, including:
- multiple forms of hyaluronic acid
- ceramides (NP, AP, and EOP)
- cholesterol
- phytosphingosine
- fatty acids that support the skin barrier
- many of the same emollients and preservatives
That’s an unusually high amount of overlap and explains why these products feel so similar on the skin.
How Rhode & Bubble Are Different
Although the foundation of the formulas is nearly identical, each brand takes the formula in a slightly different direction.
Bubble leans more heavily into hydration, adding ingredients like a sugar-derived humectant complex and allantoin to leave skin feeling soft, plump, and comfortable.
Rhode, on the other hand, focuses more on calming and supporting the skin barrier. It includes beta-glucan along with zinc, copper, and magnesium, ingredients chosen to help soothe irritation and support healthier skin over time.
My Experience Using Both
While Bubble gave me the same hydrated, glowy finish I expected, Rhode consistently did a better job of calming my skin.
My skin can be sensitive, and that’s where Rhode pulled ahead. Whenever my skin felt irritated or stressed, Glazing Milk left it feeling more comfortable and less reactive than Bubble did.
That doesn’t mean Bubble is a bad product. In fact, I think it’s an excellent formula, especially considering the price. But if soothing sensitive skin is your priority, Rhode’s additional calming ingredients make a noticeable difference.
Is Rhode Worth Twice the Price?
I don’t think the answer is the same for everyone.
If your skin is fairly balanced and you’re simply looking for a hydrating, milky toner that leaves your skin looking healthy and dewy, Bubble Cosmic Silk Toner is an incredible value. It delivers a very similar experience for significantly less money.
If your skin is sensitive, easily irritated, or acne-prone, I think Rhode Glazing Milk justifies its higher price. The added soothing ingredients made a noticeable difference for my skin.
Final Thoughts
I went into this comparison hoping Bubble would be an affordable replacement for one of my favorite skincare products.
What I found instead was something a little more nuanced.
Bubble comes remarkably close. The formulas share a surprising amount of DNA, and for many people, it may be all the product they need.
But after using both, I still find myself reaching for the Rhode Glazing Milk. Not because Bubble isn’t good, but because when my skin is feeling sensitive, Rhode consistently leaves it calmer and for me, that’s worth paying more for.
