I love a good capsule wardrobe. A closet full of timeless staples mixed with a couple of unique pieces makes for the perfect wardrobe. Not only is a capsule wardrobe cost-effective but it is an environmentally-friendly way to look great every day.
When you can shop in most stores, it is easy to build a cute and affordable capsule wardrobe. However, building a capsule wardrobe using plus-sized pieces is MUCH more difficult.
So to help a sister out, I scoured the internet far and wide to put together a plus size capsule wardrobe.
Tips For Building A Plus Size Capsule Wardrobe
Because a capsule wardrobe is filled with staples to wear throughout this season and the next, I opted for higher-quality pieces as our first choice. But because I understand that not everyone has a large budget, I included affordable options as much as possible. To make your capsule more affordable, bring your shopping list with you to consignment and thrift shops.
Also don’t feel like you need to buy new clothes to fill your capsule for the season. Assess your current wardrobe and pull from items you already have. Next, identify any gaps. Finally, make a shopping list for the items you truly need.

Outerwear
Even in spring, the temperatures can be pretty cold. Plus here in the PNW, it is windy and rainy for a good part of the season. For outerwear, I went with a good trench coat, a cute denim jacket, and a utility jacket.

Shirts, Sweaters, and Tees
Who here has 50 shirts but only wears a handful of them? I know I used to be guilty of this.
For my capsule, I wanted to make sure we had enough options for tops while also not going overboard.
I stuck to blues, whites, and pinks to make sure everything went together while also having a spring feel. You can pick any colors you would like but I recommend sticking to two or three colors that work well together.

Pants
Most of the pants and jeans that you already own will match well with the clothes in this capsule. Here I just selected a few of my favorites in case you are needing to fill a gap in your wardrobe.

Dresses
I am a huge fan of dresses. One piece and you are dressed. I picked two easy-to-wear dresses that are super cute and will have you out the door in no time.

Handbags and Totes
When it comes to bags I keep things down to a minimum. For spring, I highly recommend a tote bag that goes with everything.

Shoes
When it comes to shoes, I will choose comfort over looks. My go-to shoes are always perfect for running errands or chasing around kiddos.
