I love luxurious self-care items. Self-care in itself is a luxury. But having the best lotions and creams, just makes it that much better. So when I saw OSEA Malibu, I knew I had to try their products. The brand just shouts luxury with its glass bottles and minimalist branding. After slowly dabbling and testing out the brand, I can say I have tried a good amount of what OSEA has to offer. In this post, I am going to share my experience with each product. I’ll let you know what I like and dislike about each product. Of course, I’ll also be doing a deep dive into the ingredients.

OSEA Malibu Review

About OSEA

OSEA’s journey began three decades ago, but its inspiration hails from over a century ago with the tale of Elsa, a woman deeply connected to the sea. Following a severe injury, Elsa sought solace in the ocean’s therapeutic embrace, which ultimately led to her recovery. This powerful bond with the ocean set the stage for OSEA’s birth.

Relocating to Southern California, Elsa’s descendant witnessed a skincare industry awash with products laden with artificial ingredients. Drawing from Elsa’s reverence for the sea, they embarked on a quest to create something purer and more natural. Seaweed, with its vast therapeutic properties, became the foundation of their formulations, and thus OSEA was born.

For more than 27 years, OSEA has championed the ethos of clean, seaweed-infused skincare. In 1996, they took a pioneering step in the beauty world, emphasizing naturally derived ingredients celebrated for their safety and effectiveness. For OSEA, the term “clean beauty” isn’t a trend; it’s a continuation of a family’s longstanding trust in nature’s healing capabilities.

OSEA Malibu Product Reviews Disclaimer

Please note that this review is based entirely on my personal experience with OSEA Malibu products. Everyone’s skin and preferences are unique, so it’s essential to remember that while these products worked in certain ways for me, your experience might differ. OSEA Malibu Body Care

Undaria Cleansing Body Polish

The Undaria Cleansing Body Polish is a transformative gel-to-milk formula designed for effective skin refinement. With the nutrient-rich properties of Undaria seaweed and the exfoliating prowess of Kiwi AHA-infused rice Microparticles, this body polish gently cleanses, removing dead skin cells. Natural pumice further enhances its exfoliating capacity, ensuring a smoother skin texture. Complementary ingredients like glycerin and sunflower seed oil moisturize and nourish, leaving the skin feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.

My review:

I love trying different body scrubs to help tackle rough patches and KP on my body. Of all the body scrubs I have tested, this one is the most unique. Since the ingredients mention rice particles and pumice, I expected a pretty gritty texture. However, the granules are incredibly small and fine. The unique thing about this product is that it isn’t just a body polish, it also cleanses. As you rub it into your skin, the texture changes to a creamy milky cleanser. After rinsing, it left my skin feeling clean and not greasy. The body polish is not overly moisturizing so I make sure to follow up with the Collagen Body Lotion.

Like all of the products in the Undaria line, this has a soft citrus scent. The fragrance notes include uplifting grapefruit, lime, and cypress blended with sweet notes of mango mandarin. I personally love this scent profile.

Of the two scrubs I tried from OSEA, this one is my favorite.

Undaria Collagen Body Lotion

The Undaria Collagen™ Body Lotion is a cutting-edge, lightweight formula designed to provide intense hydration while visibly firming the skin in just 4 hours. Infused with potent ingredients like vegan collagen and hyaluronic acid, this lotion ensures radiant, revitalized skin with enduring moisture. The inclusion of Undaria Seaweed supports the skin’s natural moisture barrier, keeping it vibrant. Vegan Collagen, a sustainable alternative to traditional sources, works alongside a biomimetic tetrapeptide to smooth and enhance the skin’s firmness. Hyaluronic Acid ensures deep hydration, while turmeric contributes to a brighter and more youthful appearance.

My review:

For the longest time, I was not a lotion person. But as I have gotten older, my skin has gotten much drier. To combat that dryness, I have been testing out a lot of different body lotions.

For me, the perfect body lotion is hydrating but not greasy. I give bonus points to lotions that have a soft fragrance that is not overpowering.

The Undaria Collagen Body Lotion is all of these things. I love that it isn’t greasy but is hydrating. Plus the citrus fragrance is refreshing without being too much. If citrus is not your thing, OSEA also offers an unscented version.

Of all the body products, I have tried from OSEA Malibu this one is my absolute favorite.

Undaria Algae Body Butter

The Undaria Algae Body Butter combines skincare principles with body care benefits. It features the nutrient-rich Undaria seaweed that replenishes the skin’s moisture barrier. Whipped shea butter aids in addressing dryness, providing a softer and smoother skin feel. The formula, clinically proven to hydrate for up to 72 hours, is designed to improve skin texture and hydration levels.

My review:

Even though my skin is getting drier as I get older, I still prefer lotions that have a lighter weight. The Undaria Algae Body Butter is very much a body butter, with a thick consistency. That being said, I am not the biggest fan of this product. It is a too rich for my skin. If you have very dry skin or like a richer cream, then you may like this more than I did.

Undaria Algae Body Oil

The Undaria Algae Body Oil is formulated with a blend of potent ingredients aimed at enhancing skin’s hydration and appearance. This seaweed-infused body oil has been clinically proven to improve skin elasticity and deliver deep moisturization. The primary ingredient, Undaria seaweed, plays a pivotal role in replenishing the skin’s moisture barrier, maintaining its healthy appearance. Further enriched with White Lupin flower to promote firmer, more youthful-looking skin, and a botanical oil blend, including passion fruit, acai, babassu, and rice bran oils, the product ensures skin remains nourished and deeply moisturized without any greasy residue.

My review:

If you were to ask me about body oils, I would say I don’t usually like most of the ones I try. However, I was pleasantly surprised by this body oil. I went in thinking it was going to be thick and greasy, but it is very light and gives a nice healthy glow to the skin.

Another thing I really appreciate about this product is the packaging. The pump makes it really easy to dispense and there is no fear of spilling it.

Since this oil is part of the Undaria line, it does have a soft citrus fragrance. I really love how this product smells and the fragrance does not irritate my skin.

If you are looking to treat yourself to a beautiful body oil, I can’t recommend this one enough.

Anti-Aging Body Balm

The Anti-Aging Body Balm is a blend of hydrating and rejuvenating ingredients designed to provide the moisture of a lotion while delivering the benefits of a serum. Formulated with Alaria Esculenta seaweed, it aids in enhancing the appearance of skin elasticity and imparts a firmer look to the skin. The infusion of passion fruit seed oil not only contributes to youthful-looking skin by increasing its water retention capabilities but also complements the nourishing properties of coconut oil, which seals in essential moisture.

My review:

Of all the body products I tested from OSEA Malibu, this is the one that I liked the least. With a thin consistency but occlusive finish, it does not apply easily. Applying it to the entire body would require a ton of a product. The only way I would recommend using it is an additional layer of moisture for extremely dry spots on the body.

Like most OSEA Malibu products, the balm does have a fragrance. However, it is not the soft citrus fragrance found in the Undaria line. The body balm fragrance features warm jasmine, rose geranium, and basil.

Salts of the Earth Body Scrub

The Salts of the Earth Body Scrub boasts a transformative skin-softening formula that acts as a gentle exfoliator upon application. Incorporating mineral-rich salts sourced globally, this scrub effectively buffs away skin roughness. The addition of shea butter combined with wild Gigartina seaweed ensures the skin is not only nourished but also left with a silky-smooth texture and a radiant glow.

My review:

This body scrub is very much what I have in mind when I think of a scrub. It has some texture to it from the granules. They are not big or sharp but they are noticeable. Once the scrub is rinsed off, it leaves my skin feeling moisturized, more so than the Undaria Body Polish.

Now let’s talk about the smell. This has a lavender scent profile, which is different than all the other products I have tried from OSEA. Lavender is very relaxing and spa-like, making this an ideal scrub to use during an evening pamper routine.

While I do prefer the Undaria Cleansing Body Polish over this scrub, this scrub is still very nice. I will use this one on occasion when I want to take a relaxing shower before bed.

Ocean Cleanser

The Ocean Cleanser is a seaweed-infused gel that provides thorough facial cleansing without compromising skin moisture. Using a pH-balanced formula with gentle exfoliating lactic acid, it effectively unclogs pores. Bentonite clay aids in removing surface impurities, while Undaria seaweed mineralizes the skin. A blend of jojoba and sesame oils, alongside glycerin, ensures hydration and nourishment, leaving the skin refreshed.

My review:

This is the first product that I tried from OSEA Malibu. I received a small sample of the Ocean Cleanser in a subscription box. I remember using it thinking it would be just another cleanser in my collection. However, with just one use, I loved this cleanser.

I prefer to use this cleanser at night when I am washing the day off my face. It does such a great job at cleansing my combination skin. It removed the dirt, grime, and oil from the day without leaving my skin feeling parched.

If you have combination or oily skin, this is the OSEA Malibu cleanser to buy. Those with dry skin should check out the Ocean Cleansing Milk.

Ocean Cleansing Milk

The Ocean Cleansing Milk offers a gentle yet effective cleansing experience, perfectly suited for sensitive skin. This fragrance-free formula effortlessly dissolves makeup and impurities while preserving the skin’s natural moisture. Enriched with the Skin Identical Moisturizing Complex for enhanced hydration, it also harnesses the powers of alcohol-free witch hazel for a refreshing cleanse. Safflower seed oil, rich in fatty acids and vitamin E, coupled with glycerin, ensures that the skin remains nourished, smooth, and hydrated.

My review:

While I have combination skin, it is also super reactive. On days when my skin is red and angry, I prefer to use a very simple cleanser. That is where the Ocean Cleansing Milk comes in.

The cleansing milk is so thin and gentle that I didn’t think it would get my face clean. However, I was wrong. This delicate cleansing milk not only cleansed my skin but left it feeling super soft.

While I prefer the Ocean Cleanser, this is a really nice option for those with sensitive skin.

Seaglow Resurfacing Scrub

The Seaglow Resurfacing Scrub offers a thorough cleansing experience, combining flower acids with ocean-derived exfoliants for enhanced skin renewal. This multitasking face scrub effectively promotes cell turnover and minimizes the appearance of pores, resulting in smoother and revitalized skin. Key ingredients include glacial oceanic clay and bentonite for gentle dirt and oil removal, and volcanic sand to shed dead skin cells. Infused with nutrient-rich blue-green algae and moisturizing cloudberry seed oil, the scrub ensures skin is not only cleansed but also nourished and balanced.

My review:

Even though I have combination skin, it is often very dehydrated leaving me with flakey dry patches on my face. To remove the flaky skin, I like to gently exfoliate with a facial scrub. When it comes to exfoliants, I am really picky. I want one that has some texture to it but the granules can’t be too big or too sharp. If the scrub has chemical exfoliants included, they can’t be too harsh or they will irritate my skin.

Thankfully, the Seaglow Resurfacing Scrub is exactly what I am looking for. The exfoliating granules are large enough that you can tell they are there but they are not scratchy feeling. The chemical exfoliants from the flowers are gentle enough that they don’t make my face red. After rinsing my face was smoother, brighter, and hydrated.

Overall, I really love this scrub and I highly recommend it.

Seaglow Overnight Serum AHA Treatment

The Seaglow Overnight Serum AHA Treatment harnesses the exfoliating properties of 9% AHAs and 2% Phytic Acid to encourage skin turnover and refine its texture overnight. This powerful blend, combined with tropical fruit extracts, improves skin’s smoothness. The addition of sea actives, derived from red algae, spirulina, and seawater, restores essential moisture. Fermented shiunko oil further nourishes and fortifies the skin’s barrier, ensuring a radiant complexion upon waking.

My review:

Because I have sensitive skin, I’m always a tad apprehensive about experimenting with new AHA treatments. After all, red, angry skin isn’t exactly on my wishlist. When I first tested this product I was surprised by the texture of this treatment. It is thicker than a serum but thinner than a moisturizer. When applied, it feels soft and smooth, not sticky. It also did not cause any burning or redness, which can happen with an AHA based chemical exfoliant. While I didn’t have any issues with this irritating my skin, if you have super sensitive skin, you may want to do a patch test.

Seabiotic Water Cream

The Seabiotic® Water Cream offers a deep dive into hydration, catering especially to skin exposed to pollution and blue light. Enhanced with a combination of prebiotic, probiotic, and seaweed, it visibly bolsters skin’s radiance. Undaria Seaweed further ensures a robust moisture barrier, while Squalane offers weightless moisturization. Without any fragrance or essential oils, the cream leaves skin feeling soft, smooth, and radiantly dewy.

My review:

Since I like to use actives, I always opt for a simple moisturizer. I want fragrance-free, hydration that is not too heavy. For my skin type, the OSEA Atmosphere Protection Cream is too lightweight and the Advanced Protection Cream is too heavy. The Seabiotic Water Cream is perfect. It is a simple, lightweight but hydrating moisturizer. It doesn’t clog the pores or leave a greasy residue.
