Hi there! If you are here, you must be looking for a bit more happiness.
We must warn you, finding happiness is a bit tricky. Most of the time, you are looking for it in all the wrong places.
Happiness doesn’t have to be about bucket lists and traveling the world. Big moments in life can bring a lot of happiness, but more often than not, happiness comes from the little things in life.
If you took the time to sit down and really think about it, you could probably come up with a list of the small things that make you happy. But since we know your hunt for happiness is urgent, we are going to help you out by sharing our list as a starting point.

Coffee or Tea Time

If you’re rushing through your morning routine, drinking your coffee so fast you couldn’t even taste it, this tip is for you.
Instead of rushing through the morning, wake up when your alarm goes off. Go to the kitchen and make yourself the most perfect cup of coffee or tea. Allow the steam to rise and let the aroma fill your nose. Feel the warmth of the cup in your hands. Take a sip and really savor it.
Doesn’t that just sound wonderful?
Meditation /Prayer / Quiet Time
If you have a stressful life meditation, prayer, or quiet time might be just the thing you need.
It has actually been scientifically proven that spending 10-15 minutes a day in meditation has a beneficial effect.
For those of you that are not particularly religious or spiritual, taking a few minutes of quiet time can have just as positive of an effect. Use this time to focus on deep breathing and letting the calmness take over.

Take A Nap
With your mile-long to-do list, you probably feel like there is never enough time to get everything done. Maybe you burn the candle from both ends, sacrificing sleep for productivity.
While we might get one or two items from your list finished in the wee hours of the night, it isn’t a good habit to start. Lack of sleep will catch up to you.
Do yourself a favor, eliminate something from your to-do list, and then take a short nap. But not too long of a nap. You need to be able to sleep tonight.
Pick Up Some Fresh Flowers
Who doesn’t love fresh flowers? Even just looking at them at the store can make you feel better inside, so why not bring some home
We understand that fresh flowers can be a splurge, but if you have room in your budget, they are worth every penny.
PS. If you have a Trader Joe’s in your neighborhood, you can get flowers there for a great price. We just buy a bunch of tulips or hydrangea and put them in a vase. Simple and usually costs less than $10!

Reading
“A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies. The man who never reads lives only one.”- George. R.R Martin
Reading is a great way to add a bit of happiness to your day. You don’t even have to read a happy book or even a book at all. You could read anything you like, as long as you enjoy it.
Not sure what to read? Head to Goodreads, to find the best book recommendations.
Listen To Music
Did you know that when you listen to music that moves you, your brain releases dopamine? Dopamine is a neurotransmitter that does a lot of things, but here we are focusing on how it boosts mood, motivation, and attention.
That’s a lot of words to say listening to music literally makes your brain do it’s own happy dance.
Home Spa Day
If you think a home spa day isn’t related to happiness, we are going to prove it is with more science.
Warm water bathing can increase levels of serotonin, which is the chemical produced by the brain associated with happiness and well-being. Want all the facts? Read this very long medical article. Or just trust us.
So grab your favorite bath oil, your fluffy robe, and turn the water on.
Not a bath person or don’t have a tub? A shower works just as well.

I totally follow all these rules and they add such a quality to the daily living. My morning coffee is an absolute daily ritual.
These are actually all free stock photos. I do plan on replacing all of the stock images on my site with original photography.
I love fresh flowers! They always make me happy. 🙂
Naps and extra sleep definitely help my mood.
