How To Salvage A Haircut You Hate

I pretty much want to cry whenever I look at my hair. Last weekend, I decided to get my hair cut and regrettably I also decided to try a new style. Let’s just say the results are tragic. However, since I do have to leave the house on occasion, I have to figure out how to make my hair presentable.

One option to fixing a haircut you hate, is to get it cut again. Maybe you didn’t get enough cut off and your hair is at a super awkward length… then you could get it cut again. Or if you decided to give yourself rainbow ends and then decide you look ridiculous…. you can also get them cut off.  Depending on the length of your hair, this could be the best option.

If you are in the same boat as me, cutting your hair shorter isn’t an option. That means you will need to make the best out of a bad situation and learn how to style your new haircut.

Since my hair takes ten million years to grow, this is the route that I am taking. Luckily for you and I, there is plenty of hair inspo on Pinterest. Plus there are so many great hair products to help you get the perfect do.

I went to the store and picked up a few things to help me style my hair. I already own a hair dryer and a curling iron, so I only needed some hairspray, bobby pins, and clear hair elastics.

While you are at the store picking up some new hair products, I highly encourage you to pick up a can of the new  TRESemmé Compressed Micro-Mist Hair Spray. I ended up picking up all four to try. They all work great but I’d recommend picking up either the Smooth or the Extend. I need the Extend because it really helps my curls last longer without making them crunchy.

Hairspray feature

After gathering all of my supplies, I camped out in my office (aka the corner of my bedroom) and tried a number of hair styles that I had pinned on Pinterest. Some of them were a bit too complicated or would work better for people with hair that isn’t as fine as mine.

This first look was really easy. Just part your hair on the side. Then pull back hair in a half pony. Use hair clip or small elastic. Finally, smooth down hair and set with hair spray (while making faces at the camera).

Half Back Hair Style

The style I really liked the most is just a very classic almost vintage look. It’s really a lot like the first look in some ways, but with curls added. All I did was use hot rollers, a clip, and use the TRESemmé Compressed Micro-Mist Hair Spray.I didn’t even need a comb or brush. I just used my fingers to break up the curls before spraying it with the hair spray. How easy is that !?!

Vintage Curl Hair Style

Through trying new styles, I’ve come to hate my new haircut a bit less. But you better believe I am going to be growing my hair out again!

I do have some more pictures to share with the other hair styles that I tried. I’ll be sharing those on my Facebook and Instagram in the next coming weeks.
