You can use the same sunscreen for your face and body, but in my experience, most body sunscreens don’t layer well under makeup and can feel a bit too heavy or greasy. These face sunscreens are the ones I reach for again and again, whether I’m going for a healthy glow, keeping it minimal, or wearing a full face of makeup.
RMS SuperNatural Radiance Serum SPF 30
This is my go-to sunscreen when I want that healthy, radiant glow without looking like I dipped my face in highlighter. It gives just the right amount of luminosity, enough to make my skin look fresh and dewy, but never greasy or overdone. I love wearing it on its own for no-makeup days or layered under a tinted moisturizer when I want a little more coverage. Compared to other glow-boosting SPFs like Supergoop’s Glow Screen or e.l.f.’s Suntouchable Whoa Glow, this one feels more refined and less Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz.
Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen SPF 50
If I’m doing a full face of makeup, especially for something like a summer wedding or an outdoor event, this is the sunscreen I trust underneath it all. Supergoop’s Unseen Sunscreen goes on totally clear with zero white cast, making it perfect for all skin tones. The silicone-like texture acts like a primer, creating a smooth, velvety base that helps makeup glide on and stay put. It’s weightless, invisible, and truly lives up to the “unseen” name. If you’re looking for a budget-friendly alternative, the Trader Joe’s Daily Facial Sunscreen SPF 40 is said to be a solid dupe and worth checking out if you have a Trader Joe’s nearby.
Hero Cosmetics Force Shield Superlight Sunscreen SPF 30
This is the SPF I grab when my skin is feeling red or irritated and I have no plans to wear makeup. The green tint helps tone down redness in a subtle, no-fuss way, which I appreciate on more sensitive-skin days. It has a soft, matte finish that feels almost velvety, making it a great option if you have oily or combination skin.
Favorite Body Sunscreens
When it comes to body sunscreen, I usually reach for a lotion or oil over a spray. Sprays might be convenient, but breathing them in isn’t great. Lotions also make it easier to apply enough and ensure every spot gets covered. That said, I do keep a spray or two on hand for quick reapplication when out and about.
Supergoop! Play SPF 50
This one’s a bit of a splurge, but it’s become a favorite in our house. Supergoop Play has that perfect not-too-thick, not-too-runny texture that makes it easy to apply, especially on wiggly kids. It rubs in fairly quickly, and it doesn’t have a strong smell. I always go for the big bottle with the pump; it’s more economical and makes reapplying a breeze.

If you’re looking for a budget-friendly SPF that just gets the job done, this is it. I keep a bottle in our beach bag, throw one in the car, and always have it on hand for park days or weekend track meets. It’s designed to hold up through sweat and water, so it’s a great pick for hot, active days outside. It’s not fancy, but it’s reliable.
Coppertone Kids SPF 50 Spray
We’re not usually big on spray sunscreens, but if we’re using one, it’s this. Coppertone Kids SPF 50 is the one we trust for quick, easy coverage, whether it’s the kids heading out to play or one of us needing a fast reapply. We keep it by the door so the kids can spray themselves down before running outside, and my husband swears by it for his head and neck (along with his trusty bucket hat). It’s convenient, affordable, and works when you need something fast and fuss-free.
