When I found out I was having a baby, I started doing a ton of reading on everything baby. I read about strollers, and car seats, baby bottles, pacifiers…I bought a lot of stuff. Way too much in fact. Some of my purchases were misses, but I did manage to find products for newborns that I couldn’t live without.
Top 5 products for newborns
I wish I had found these bottles earlier. I was using a different brand that was supposed to be more natural feeling, but the nipple kept collapsing. These bottles, while they have more parts, work like a vacuum to reduce air bubbles. I really think they help with gas and reflux.
2. Large Muslin Swaddle Blankets
We had tried all sorts of swaddle blanket from the pre-swaddled kind to stretchy swaddle blankets. After trying all of the different swaddles, we decided we liked the Little Unicorn Muslin Swaddle Blankets best. These swaddles are rather large which was great since both of our babies were very long. I really love all of the different patterns that are available. I was able to find a set that matched our nursery theme perfectly.
Monitors are super fancy now. This monitor has a night light and a thermometer. I like being able to know how warm or cold the nursery is so I can adjust the heat or open a window if needed. Also, this monitor won’t break the bank. We didn’t find that a video monitor was necessary for newborns (but did buy this one once we had toddlers).\
4. Enfamil Premium Newborn Infant Formula Nursettes
This isn’t the kind of formula I use for every feeding, but it is my go-to when we left the house for the occasional errand. These are so simple to use. No need to mix powder and water. Just pour into the bottle. Once the boys were having more than 4 ounces at a feeding, we switched to using the powder and water since it was much more economical.
5. Sound Machine
Putting my little one to bed is difficult. Like his mom, he is a night owl. I am working on getting him used to a bedtime routine. Our favorite sound is the ocean followed by the rain. The sound machine we bought has a timer or can play continuously.
