Every season you make changes to your wardrobe. Fall means swapping out shorts and sandals for pants and boots. But you shouldn’t only be updating your wardrobe. With the change in seasons, you should also change your skincare routine.

I’ll be sharing my fall skincare essentials, plus a few tips you should consider when updating your routine for the new season.

Fall Skincare Essentials

Fall Skincare Essentials

Gentle Cleanser

When the weather cools down, consider swapping your current cleanser for a milkier/creamier one. My absolute favorite cleanser is the Korres Greek Yoghurt Cream Cleanser. I know that at $28 it is on the pricier, but I love it so much and have repurchased it numerous times. If you need a more affordable option, grab the Versed Milky Cleanser.

Richer Moisturizer

During the summer, I didn’t always use a moisturizer. With it being so hot, I would only use SPF. Now that my skincare doesn’t melt off the moment I walk outside, I am using a moisturizer during the day. My favorite moisturizer is the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Moisturizing Cream. It is hydrating without being heavy.

Night Cream

During the day I don’t like being too shiny, but at bedtime, it’s a different story. Layer me up. I want to look like a glazed donut. Right now, I am loving the super bougie SkinCeuticals Triple Lipid Restore Cream. I also highly recommend the Tatcha Indigo Overnight Repair.

Masks and Treatments

When the weather changes my skin goes a bit crazy. I’ll have dry patches and acne breakouts. To help battle both, I reach for masks and treatments that promote skin turnover. My favorite exfoliating mask is the OleHenriksen Phat Glow Facial. It does a great job of exfoliating without irritating the skin. For congested skin, I highly recommend the Caudalie Instant Detox Mask.

When my skin is extra dry and in need of hydration, I reach for the Dr. Jart Ceramidin Sheet Mask. If you really want to treat yourself, the Fresh Black Tea Instant Smoothing Mask is also very soothing.

Lip Balm

Chapped lips are not cute. My secret to smooth, hydrated lips isn’t lip balm. It is lip-basting. At night, I take a dab of Weleda Skin Food and apply it to my lips. Yes, it looks crazy at first, but in a few minutes, it melts right into the skin. During the day, I’ll just grab any old lip balm I happen to find in my purse.

Fall Skincare Tips and Tricks

When making seasonal changes to your skincare routine, think about your specific weather. If you live in a colder climate, you will need to change to richer formulas. But if you live somewhere that is humid, you may get away with using your summer products for fall.

Fall is the best time to get professional treatments done. If you are interested in micro-needling or lasers, now is the time to book those.

Even though it is fall, you still need to wear SPF every day.
