The clean beauty movement has been growing for the last few years. As more and more consumers demand better ingredients and more transparency, brands are starting to take note. In the past, the clean beauty options were so few and far between. Now there are hundreds of options.

To help you navigate the myriad of skincare options that are now available under the clean beauty umbrella, we’ve tried and tested tons of products for you.

Since we are always trying new products, we will continue to update this post with our new favorites. Make sure to save this post to Pinterest for future reference.

What is Clean Beauty?

Okay, so this is a bit complicated as there is no set definition of what clean beauty means. Generally, clean beauty products are made without the use of ingredients that are controversial or unsafe. Examples of these ingredients include parabens, synthetic fragrances, certain sulfates, formaldehyde, and Oxybenzone, among others. If you would like to know more about which specific ingredients to avoid or just learn more about the specifics of clean beauty, check out this article from Harper’s Bazaar.

Shopping Clean Skincare

When shopping for clean skincare products we turn to a few different retailers. Our favorite place to shop for clean beauty is Sephora but we also shop at Credo Beauty, The Detox Market, and Nordstrom’s Natural Beauty section.

Farmacy Green Clean Makeup Removing Cleansing Balm

Cleansing Balm for Combination Skin

Farmacy Beauty Green Clean is formulated to remove makeup while gently exfoliating the skin. Most makeup removers can dry or irritate the skin, this formula melts away stubborn makeup while leaving the skin hydrated and smooth.

This cleansing balm is made with Papaya extract helps to retexture skin and reveal a youthful glow. Plus this product is paraben-free, synthetic fragrance-free, mineral oil-free, and cruelty-free.

Whenever we are asked to recommend a cleansing balm, we always suggest Green Clean. We love how it only takes a tiny bit to remove a full face of makeup.Plus it doesn’t sting our eyes or leave an overly greasy residue on the face.

Korres Greek Yoghurt Foaming Cream Cleanser

The Korres cleanser is a nourishing cream-to-foam, soap-free face wash that removes impurities and light makeup in one step. After cleansing, your skin will feel clean and soft.

We love to use this cleanser in the morning or after working out to gently remove oil and dirt. This nourishing formula is perfect for combination skin types that also have sensitive skin or lean toward the drier side on the combo spectrum.

Boscia Exfoliating Peel Gel

Exfoliating Peel Gel

This Boscia peel gel works in three ways: as a physical peel to remove the outer layer of dead skin, as a chemical peel for in-depth exfoliation, and as a treatment to help skin appear firmer and brighter for a healthy-looking complexion.

This peel gel has been a favorite since 2018. AKA Holy Grail Status! We use this product all year, but we especially love it in the winter. This easy to use peel gel helps remove yucky dead skin from our face, giving us an all over glow and a smoother base for makeup application.

OLEHENRIKSEN Glow2OH™ Dark Spot Toner

Clean Beauty Toner

This brightening toner uses a high concentration of AHAs and witch hazel to reduce the look of dark spots. Along with the powerful AHAs, this toner also contains licorice root, chamomile, and sandalwood to help soothe and condition the skin.

This toner is a workhorse skincare product. We recommend this product to anyone that wants to increase skin cell turnover for brighter and smoother skin. Those with very sensitive skin may want to skip this toner or only use it every other night.

Caudalie Vinoperfect Anti Dark Spot Serum

Caudalie Serum

This cult-favorite brightening serum from Caudalie is powered by grapevine sap, which is 62 times more effective at brightening than vitamin C . Its lightweight formula corrects dark spots, acne scars, pigmentation, and sunspots.

Our editor has been using this dark spot serum for years. She loves that it brightens the skin and fades scars without causing any irritation. This is a great dark spot serum for people with more sensitive skin.

Olehenriksen Banana Bright Eye Crème

OleHenriksen Clean Skincare Eye cream

This eye cream used Vitamin C, collagen, and special pigments to brighten and hydrate the skin while minimizing the appearance of dark circles. It is specially formulated to work well under makeup without pilling.

We love love love this eye cream. Our editor has been raving about this eye cream since it launched. We all love how it brightens the under-eye area. While it works well under concealer, we love it on no-makeup days too.

This is a great eye cream for those wanting to look fresh and awake. This isn’t the most hydrating eye cream, so for those with very dry skin, you may want to opt for a different cream or make sure to use a very hydrating cream at night.

Tatcha The Dewy Skin Cream

Tatcha Dewy Skin

The Tatcha Dewy Skin Cream intensely hydrates and seals in moisture, helping to replenish ceramides for a healthy bounce and instant luminosity.

Between all of here, we have combination or oily skin. When we tested the Dewy Skin Cream, we thought it wouldn’t work for our skin types. However, we were pleasantly surprised that this moisturizer gave us a pretty dewy glow without leaving our skin feeling greasy.

Belif The True Cream Aqua Bomb

Belif Clean Skincare Moisturizer

This cult-favorite gel-cream is designed to ‘burst’ when applied, releasing explosive hydration. The lightweight, hydrating formula absorbs quickly so combination and oily skin types can hydrate for smoother-looking skin without heaviness and greasiness.

When testing this moisturizer, we loved that it worked well for both combination and oily skin types. The gel formula absorbed quickly and did not feel heavy at all.

Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial™

Babyfacial‘s 25 percent AHA/2 percent BHA blend gently exfoliates the pore lining and resurfaces by removing dead skin cells. With an ideal pH level of 3.5, glycolic, tartaric, lactic, citric, and salicylic acids work together to ensure higher efficacy without visible redness and sensitization.

We love this treatment because it does the best job at removing dry flakey skin. If you are new to using strong acid peels, we suggest only leaving the facial on for half of the recommended time for the first couple of uses.

This advanced antioxidant treatment melts onto skin and instantly softens with a cooling sensation (the tingle tells you it’s working!) to reveal a luminous complexion. It’s powered by Fresh’s black tea complex, skin-smoothing polysaccharides, and moisturizing hyaluronic acid spheres.

This mask is AMAZING. It will leave your skin feeling soft and give you the most amazing glow. While the price is on the higher side, it is totally worth the splurge.
