If you’ve been eyeing Oribe, but hesitating over the price tag, I get it. It’s a luxury hair care line and the products are a real investment. But after trying eight of them, I can tell you exactly which ones are worth it and which ones you can skip.

Oribe Hair Care was co-founded in 2008 by Oribe Canales, a legendary celebrity hairstylist who defined the big, voluminous looks of the 90s supermodel era, and industry veteran Daniel Kaner. I understand why this is one of Oribe’s most popular products. It works a bit like dry shampoo in that it absorbs oil and refreshes second-day hair, but it also adds real texture and volume at the same time. In all my years of testing hair products, I haven’t found anything that does what this does. It’s pricey, but it’s worth the splurge.
Oribe Maximista Thickening Spray
As someone with naturally flat hair, I’m always on the lookout for products that can give me some extra volume. To get the best results, I spray this on damp hair, working it mostly through the roots, and then blow dry. It adds a ton of thickness and body, making my hair look twice as full. What I love most about this spray is that it doesn’t leave any crunchy or sticky residue behind, which is a problem I’ve had with other volumizing products. It can be a bit drying, but since I have oily hair, that’s not an issue for me. This is definitely my favorite hair thickening spray and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a boost in volume.
Oribe Grandiose Hair Plumping Mousse
When it comes to hair styling, mousse was not something that was on my radar until my stylist introduced me to this one. I always thought mousse was only for people with curly hair, but now I know that anyone can use it. My stylist taught me to apply it to the roots before blow drying with a round brush. You do have to be careful not to use too much, because it can cause stickiness. I prefer the Maximista spray for my hair type, but if mousse is already part of your routine, this is a good one to try.
Oribe Superfine Hair Spray
I almost never use hairspray, but my stylist used this on my fine hair after putting in some soft curls. It provides a medium hold without making hair look stiff, and it allows hair to move naturally. It isn’t the longest holding, but for how I like my hair, it does the job.

Oribe Shampoo for Magnificent Volume
Of all the Oribe shampoos I’ve tried, this is my favorite and it’s actually where I started with the brand. The formula is gentle yet effective, and it delivers the perfect amount of volume. If you’re set on trying an Oribe shampoo, this is the one I’d point you toward.
Oribe Conditioner for Magnificent Volume
This is a lightweight conditioner that pairs well with the volumizing shampoo. It detangles without weighing hair down, and I do like it. That said, I don’t think it’s worth the investment. There are conditioners I like just as much at a lower price point.
Oribe Gold Lust Repair & Restore Shampoo
As one of the most popular shampoos from the brand, I absolutely had to to try it. Unfortunatly, it didn’t get my hair clean and left it flat. If you have thick, dry, or damaged hair this rich shampoo might be right for you. For fine hair, I’d skip this one.
Oribe Gold Lust Repair & Restore Conditioner
After not loving the shampoo version of this, I was surprised that I enjoyed this conditioner. To make sure I didn’t overdo it, I used a small amount on the lower half of my hair. It did a great job detangling and smoothing my ends. That said, I still wouldn’t repurchase it since there are other conditioners I like more.
Are Oribe Hair Products Worth It?
For the styling products, yes. The Dry Texturizing Spray and the Maximista are two of the best products I’ve used for fine hair and I keep coming back to both.
For the shampoos and conditioners, it really depends on your hair type. However, if you have fine hair like me, you can likely find something you love for less.
