A lot of other budget tablets we looked at were missing key features like parental controls or had really limited space.

How We Use Them
The tablets don’t go everywhere with us. For quick errands or short trips, they stay home. Most of the time, my boys use their Amazon Fire tablets at home after school. During winter or summer break, they’ll use them on days without camp or when I don’t have an activity planned.

Cons
- Limited Storage – Not ideal if you want to load tons of apps and downloads, though it hasn’t been an issue for us.
- Lower Camera Quality – The latest model tops out at 5MP (compared to 12MP on iPads). Fine for video chats, not great for photos.
- Less Robust App Store – Fewer app options than Apple’s App Store.
- Touchscreen is Less Smooth – More durable but slightly less responsive.
- Amazon Kids+ is a Paid Service After Year One – $48/year for Prime members.
Our Verdict
The Amazon Fire HD 10 Kids Pro isn’t perfect (it’s not as fast or sleek as an iPad), but for the price, durability, parental controls, and included content, it’s hard to beat. If you want an affordable, kid-friendly tablet that balances fun, learning, and peace of mind, this one is worth considering.
