5 Things To Do Before Baby Arrives

I’ve had two babies and each one of them has arrived before their due date.  So when it comes to making sure you are ready for the baby, I almost feel like an expert. Ha Ha. Just kidding. But really, I do feel like I know a lot. Some from doing things right and a bit from learning from my mistakes. And so you don’t have to learn the hard way, I am going to share my top recommendations for getting ready for baby.

1. Baby Needs A Room…

The things you need to buy will vary depending on where baby will be sleeping. With our first, the baby and I both slept in the nursery. My youngest slept in the same room as me and my husband for the first year.

2. Do you love to do laundry?

For my first baby, I vastly underestimated the amount of clothes we would need. My oldest had really bad reflux so we went through a lot of clothes. I had only bought enough for two a day, which was not enough at all. Some days we would go through four or five outfits. I was doing laundry all the time.

3. Crunch the numbers.

For our first kid we were on a very tight budget. I made sure to know just how much I could spend. I also set priorities on which things I wanted to spend more on and which I wanted to spend less.

4. Gather up the usual suspects.

The usual suspects are things like car seats, strollers, baby carriers, diaper bags, diapers, wipes, and bottles. It can be easy to get wrapped up in the specifics of each of these purchases. For that I would turn to your friends for recommendations. Then you have to find what you like for the budget you have.

5. What’s for dinner?

While I am trying to bring some levity to the situation, figuring out what you will be feeding your new baby is important. I really wanted to nurse but it didn’t work out. Luckily I was prepared. I had signed up for Enfamil Family Beginnings and had received their welcome kit full of different formula samples. Even if you do plan on nursing, I really recommend having some formula on hand. Enfamil has great resources for parents, as well as information on all sorts of things, not just formula. The welcome kit is really great and has lots of samples, coupons, and helpful information. Right now you can win free formula for a year*! Who wouldn’t want that? Enter here! The promotion ends December 31, 2017 so make sure you sign up soon!

**NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A purchase will not increase your chances of winning. Open to legal US residents 18 or older. Void where prohibited.
