If you are going to invest in a high-end mascara you only want the best of the best. See which high-end mascaras make the cut.

If I could only wear one makeup product for the rest of my life, it would be mascara.  I love how it instantly makes me feel a bit more glamorous, especially high-end mascaras.

Now when I look for a mascara, I want one that pretty much does it all. I want long, voluminous, yet defined lashes. No clumps wanted here, well most of the time…There are certain days a nice clumpy one is just what I’m looking for.

For this multi-part series, I tried over 20 different mascaras.  I tried drugstore, high-end, fiber mascara, and everything in between.

For my testing process, I tried each one. After applying it, if I was impressed, I put it the good pile. If it wasn’t so great, it went in the bad pile. I then retested all of the good and narrowed them down to the best.

This post is specifically about high-end mascaras. If that isn’t your thing, don’t worry. I’ll be doing a best drugstore mascaras post too!

Best High-End Mascaras

Lancôme Monsieur Big

This wins for best overall. It made my lashes bigger and more dramatic by adding volume and length, without looking clumpy. If you are into waterproof formulas, they do make a waterproof version that a lot of people love.

Lancôme Definicils High Definition

If you want ultra defined lashes, you cannot go wrong with this Lancôme version. Just one coat and each of your lashes will be defined.

Benefit Roller Lash

Winner for defining and curling. The mascara has thin bristles, that lifts and curls your lashes. Plus the formula is made to help nourish your lashes.

Tarte Gifted Amazonian Clay

Vegan ✓ Repairative ✓ Volumizing ✓

Benefit BADgal Bang

This lifted my lashes, made them longer, and more dramatic. This does give a messy, semi-clumpy look to the lashes, which is perfect for those days you want to look a bit edgy.

Givenchy Noir Couture 4 In 1

This mascara really does it all. It lengthens, defines, and curls. It is a bit harder to find so if you can find it, make sure to grab it.

*Bonus* Best High-End Primer

Lancôme Cils Booster XL Super Enhancing Primer Base This primer made a noticeable difference in the length of my lashes.

I’ve tried Benefit Roller lash and like it a lot. I bought Tarte Gifted Amazonian Clay Smart mascara based on another recommendation and I find it very clumpy. I really wanted to like it because I love the packaging, but I was very disappointed.

I’m sorry the Tarte didn’t work for you. I didn’t have issues with clumps when I tried it, but maybe I got super fresh one?

I’ve actually been on the hunt for a new good mascara so this was perfect timing. I’ve been trying out two new ones but I feel like it’s really hard for me to find one that I actually love.
