As we go into 2026, I’ve been taking some time to reflect on everything 2025 brought my way.

It was a year that tested me in ways I couldn’t have imagined. I entered 2025 with the guiding phrase “The Next Chapter”, hoping to step into growth, opportunity, and possibility. Life had different plans, but it taught me invaluable lessons about resilience, hope, and protecting my energy.

In this post, I’m sharing my reflections, the lessons I’m carrying forward, and my focus for 2026. I hope it inspires you to consider your own intentions for the year ahead.

2026 Goals

Looking Back on 2025

I set ambitious goals for health, family, finances, and career. And honestly? It was hard.

Health: My energy and mental health were the foundation for everything else, and when they faltered, it affected all areas of life. Sleep issues, headaches, and fatigue made it difficult to focus or accomplish much, and I struggled to maintain the routines I knew would support me.

Family: We had moments of joy, like our trip to Bend, Oregon, but overall, the year was stressful. Living in a small space with lots of demands made peace at home a challenge. I could see the stress starting to show in my kids, which was a stark reminder that our energy affects everyone we love.

Finances: We paid off medical debt, which was a huge relief, but unexpected expenses, like needing a car, meant added stress. We survived, but I still feel the pressure of long-term financial goals being out of reach, which brings up anxiety and guilt.

Career & Creativity: I mostly put content creation on the back burner. My creative spark faded, and I realized that when my energy and mental health are low, it’s nearly impossible to create or achieve anything.

Lessons Learned

It would be easy to call this year a failure. But reframing it, I see that 2025 was a year of lessons, not outcomes. It reminded me that mental health is the foundation for everything, that small moments of joy matter more than big accomplishments, and that protecting your peace is non-negotiable.

The most important takeaway from 2025: hope, energy, and creativity are the keystones of life. Without them, nothing else flows easily.

Looking Ahead to 2026

For 2026, I’m shifting my focus. Instead of chasing every big goal or trying to “catch up,” I want to protect hope, restore energy, and nurture creativity.

Here’s the framework I’m leaning on:

  1. Protect mental health first. Daily check-ins, small resets, and consistent boundaries will help prevent sliding into despair.
  2. Bring back creativity and wonder. Even short, consistent sessions of writing, reading, or exploring something new can spark inspiration.
  3. Create peace and joy at home. Gentle routines and supporting the kids’ activities help anchor normalcy and happiness.
  4. Prioritize energy and health. Sleep, nourishment, and gentle movement will help prevent fatigue, headaches, and illness.
  5. Celebrate micro-achievements. Small wins are meaningful markers of progress.

The goal isn’t perfection. It’s about recognizing the sparks of hope and strength that carry us through tough times.

An Invitation to You

2025 was a heavy year for many of us, and it’s okay to acknowledge that. Some years are about survival, about showing up even when it’s hard, and about noticing the smallest sparks that remind us life is worth living.

As you move into 2026, I encourage you to consider what truly matters in your days. Even tiny gestures like reading for ten minutes, laughing with your kids, or pausing to notice something beautiful can remind you of what really matters.

Here’s to a year of gentle progress, small joys, and living in ways that feel meaningful and real.
