It was a year that tested me in ways I couldn’t have imagined. I entered 2024 with grit as my guiding word, knowing there would be challenges ahead. But life, as it often does, had even more unexpected hurdles in store. Despite everything, grit carried me through—and taught me invaluable lessons about strength, resilience, and the importance of leaning on others when needed.
In this post, I’m diving into the highlights, the setbacks, and everything in between. I’ll also share what’s on the horizon for 2025, including my new guiding phrase, which I hope will inspire not only me but you as well.

Reflections on 2024
Proudest Accomplishments
2024 was a year of remarkable health strides. At the start of the year, I could barely walk three miles. Now, I can walk five miles a day. I even completed a two-month step challenge! My workouts have become a vital part of my routine, benefiting not only my body but my mental health as well. While I didn’t meet my weight loss goal, I made significant progress and have more energy and strength than ever.
For my family, some of the best moments were during our trip to Redmond, Oregon, and celebrating my youngest’s birthday at the waterpark. These memories reminded me that joy doesn’t have to be complicated. It’s found in being present and sharing experiences with the people I love.
Challenges and Lessons Learned
2024 was not an easy year. It was filled with unexpected challenges, some of the hardest I’ve faced in a while. But grit and resourcefulness got me through. I learned that I am capable of handling more than I give myself credit for, but also that it’s okay to ask for help when needed.

Why “The Next Chapter”?
After a year of survival mode, I’m ready to turn the page and start fresh. “The Next Chapter” is about stepping into a season of growth, opportunity, and possibility. It’s about leaving behind what no longer serves me and writing a story that feels more aligned with the life I want to create for myself and my family.
2025 Goals
Health
- Lose 48 pounds while continuing to prioritize strength and energy.
- Improve my mile time to under 20 minutes (current pace: 24 minutes).
- Eventually complete a 5K in under an hour.
Finances
- Aggressively pay down debt, aiming to put an extra $2,000 toward repayments.
- Save for medical expenses while staying on top of day-to-day budgeting.
Family
- Plan more fun, low-cost activities, like a trip to a real arcade.
- Take an out-of-state vacation that requires air travel—an exciting goal for all of us!
- Find a church where we can attend regularly and grow spiritually as a family.
Career
- Break even on my camera gear investment.
- Earn an extra $100 a month from a side hustle.
- Explore new work opportunities beyond content creation if needed for financial stability.
Final Thoughts
2024 reminded me that life is unpredictable, but it also reaffirmed my strength and resilience. As I move into 2025, I’m carrying those lessons with me while embracing the opportunities that lie ahead.
